“You have such an interesting background.”

I hear it all the time. My experience spans numerous technologies, industries, organizations, and professions. My interests and skills are very broad. I learn constantly, and bring all of it to you.

YOU are the expert in your technology. I am the student. And maybe i can offer some thoughts on the technical side, but that’s not really my role.

My role is to help you grow your technology into a larger business. I bring deep expertise in R&D funding, technology management, business development, commercialization, industrial marketing, and technical sales.

A Reviewer’s Perspective.

Dan regularly serves on SBIR-STTR proposal review panels for the NSF and DOE.

He knows what happens in the room where it matters. Because he’s there. Often.

He brings that perspective to you and your projects.

That gives you a much better chance to win.

R&D Grant Funding

Dan has helped hundreds of companies win hundreds of millions of dollars in non-dilutive R&D funding. Most these include SBIR, STTR, PFI, and similar grants from the DoD, NSF, DOE, NASA, NIH, and other federal agencies. Others are more specialized opportunities from state and local governments or non-governmental agencies.

As long-time Board Member and Chair of a small social service agency, Dan has also experience securing social service grants.

Science, Technology & Engineering

I earned my PhD in polymer chemistry, working on a border between physics, materials science and engineering.

More recently I’ve worked in additive manufacturing, advanced energy, aerospace and space technologies, artificial intelligence and machine learning, analytical instrumentation, biochemistry, ceramics, electrical and electronics engineering, electrochemistry, energy production, control, distribution, and storage, hydraulics, image science, medical devices, microbiology, nanotechnology, optoelectronics, photochemistry, semiconductor technologies, software, vehicle and transportation technologies, and others.

You are the expert in your technology. I can quickly learn enough about it to help you build it into a better business.

Business Management & Marketing

My MBA studies emphasized marketing, strategy, and entrepreneurship. Since then, I’ve worked in some of the largest and some of the smallest companies in the world, as well as a couple in-between.

My work has always been on the borders between business development and technology development. Along the way I’ve gained practical expertise in IP strategy, technology strategy, R&D process management, industrial marketing and sales, financial management, corporate sustainability, and people management.

As a marketer-at-heart, I help you focus on serving your customers as well as humanly possible.

Navigating Through the Bureaucracy

It’s overwhelming.

Large organizations, like the federal government and Fortune 100 corporations and huge universities create overwhelming bureaucracy whenever they touch small companies and non-profits.

I get it. I’ve worked on all sides of this.

And I can help you work through the endless, painful details. We’ll find the right people. We’ll work the process. We’ll fill out the right forms. Correctly. It won’t be fun (or maybe it will?). And together we can make it through.

We’ll help you get there
